Introduction
The two most popular types of injectable treatments are fillers and Profhilo. Fillers have been around for years, whilst Profhilo is relatively new to the market. Dermal Fillers Treatment are used to plumping up the skin, whereas Profhilo is a product that stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles on the face, forehead and neck.
Profhilo has only been available for a few years, but its popularity has soared because it produces more dramatic natural results than traditional fillers such as Botox or Restylane. It’s also much safer with less risk of complications or allergic reactions compared with other treatments like dermal fillers, which can cause inflammation, infection or scarring if they’re not injected correctly by an expert cosmetic doctor.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a product that stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles on the face, forehead and neck. It is a gel that contains platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which has been proven to reduce the signs of ageing by stimulating new collagen production.
The product contains an additional ingredient, cross-linking agents, that has been proven to extend the efficacy of fillers.
Being an FDA approved product, Profhilo is both safe and affordable.
It works in three ways:

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?
It works by injecting Profhilo into skin. The best part is you don’t have to go under the knife for great improvement! Profhilo is a product that stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles on the face, forehead and neck. So, at your initial consultation, you will be given a list of possible treatable areas, side effects, including swelling, redness, and pain at injection sites and we go over the results.
After your visit and talk with me Celebrity Doctor Dr Nirdosh, we will talk with you about your concerns. I will also review what I think will work best based on your age, skin type and any wrinkles that you want to treat. You’ll then be taken into the pre-treatment area, where my nurse will prepare your skin for treatment, including cleaning or sterilizing the area. I then inject the profhilo into the face and neck to lift and tighten the skin and fill out wrinkles from within.
Profhilo is made using hyaluronic acid, which dissolves over time, so it is ideal as an anti-ageing injection treatment or to fill a wrinkle. Some people might say, ‘but hyaluronic acid is used in fillers. That’s true because Profhilo itself is made from the highest form of Hyaluronic acid but it also begins the formation of collagen.
So, when injected into the skin, it stimulates collagen production and basically rebuilds the fibres of your skin which results in a more youthful appearance.
HOW DOES PROFHILO DIFFER FROM FILLERS?
Dermal Fillers are used to plump up the skin, whereas Profhilo is a product that stimulates collagen production. Fillers can also be injected into deeper folds like nasolabial folds or marionette lines, while Profhilo is unsuitable for injection into these areas. Profhlio is more suited to fine lines and wrinkles in the skin.
Profhilo can reduce wrinkles on any area of the face and body, such as under the eyes, around the mouth or even for breast enhancement.
Profhilo is known to be better than fillers
About 90% of patients who try Dermal Fillers such as Cheek fillers will have some minor reaction, including swelling, redness and bruising, which could take weeks or months to clear. Profhilo helps to make your skin smoother and firmer than fillers can. It is also less likely to cause an allergic reaction.
If you have wrinkles on the forehead, Profhilo will help with that area of the face, but if you want more plumpness on the cheeks, then fillers should be used. Profhilo is also suitable for use in the following areas: face, neck, chest and hands. Fillers cannot be used in the hands and are only suitable for the face and neck.
Profhilo is a topical injection that will promote collagen growth in the skin, whereas Fillers are temporary fillers that always require top-up treatments. Profhilo once injected into the dermis (the deepest layer of your skin), stimulates collagen production, so it continues to work for up to 2 years without further treatment.
Profhilo is a much cheaper procedure than fillers as it works longer for up to 24 months, whereas fillers need to be topped up every 6 months. Profhilo has been available in Europe since 2000 and was only recently introduced into the UAE in 2017. Whereas, fillers first came onto the market in the 1960s.
The benefits of profhilo over fillers
Profhilo has got more benefits as compared to fillers. It is a new product on the market which is perceived by many as better than fillers, and it costs less. Fillers can be used to plump up the skin, whereas Profhilo is predominantly used to reduce wrinkles and lines on the face.
If you are looking to reduce wrinkles, then Profhilo could likely be a better choice for you. Fillers are more suited to people who want to volumize and really plump up their skin so that it looks fuller. Profhilo also stimulates collagen production in the skin, while fillers do not have this capability.
One of the main benefits of Profhilo is that it has longer-lasting effects than fillers that are up to two years or even permanent if you had more than eight sessions. Fillers can only provide temporary results, whereas Profhilo provides long-lasting effects up to two years or even permanent if you received more than eight sessions.
Side effects of profhilo treatment
Profhilo injections have some very minor side effects that might arise in pain, redness, bruising, and swelling. These are commonly known as injection site reactions. Profhilo should only be administered byexpert Profhilo injectors with an extensive background in successful dermatological aesthetic results like me who can manage and treat possible adverse reactions.
There are no long-term studies tracking the adverse reactions of Profhilo. It is difficult to predict how patients will react in years to come, but currently, there have not been any alarming. I can tell you from injecting Profhio, that the side effects are almost none and don’t last long.
Which gives better results
Profhilo has been found to give more immediate results than fillers which usually take weeks or months before we see them. It’s also important to note that most patients can get treatments such as lip fillers in a single session instead of repeated sessions with Profhilo.

Conclusion
The differences between fillers and Profhilo are that one is used to plump up the skin. In contrast, the other stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles on the face, forehead and neck. Fillers need to be repeated every few months while Profhilo can last for a long time. If you want less of a chance of getting an allergic reaction or under-eye bags or lines with your injectable treatments, then it may make sense for you to choose Profhilo over fillers.
The benefits of using Profhilo instead of fillers are that there will not be as much volume added, which means no more swollen cheeks, neither will they start looking aged prematurely like botoxed faces do after a certain amount of years. The costs are also lower with Profhilo than other injectables such as Restylane.
Profhilo is very new, but hundreds of patients have already undergone the treatment with good results so far! It has not yet been proven to last as long as fillers, but it will give a more natural look and can be used on a wide variety of skin types. I believe that Profhilo will have a bright future in the battle of Fillers vs Profhilo.

Profhilo uses NAHYCO™ Hybrid Technology which is injected directly into the targeted area focussing on wrinkles. The Hyaluronic Acid injection is water-based unlike Dermal Fillers, so it deeply hydrates the underlying skin cells with major water to help accelerate stimulation of new fuller collagen and elastin.
Although it is a Hyaluronic Acid-based injection, it is different as it’s composed as a stabilised product whereas Normal Dermal fillers are non-stabilised. The effect on the deep dermal cells will last much longer. This allows four different types of collagen to be stimulated for longer-lasting results on skin tissue formation.
Profhilo is very effective in treating wrinkles and sagging skin. The results are visible after the first treatment with a reduction of up to 51% for fine lines, ripples or deep wrinkles within six months. Wrinkles will be reduced by around 37%. There may also be an increase in elastin which can lead to tighter skin and less skin laxity.
